Top 5 Apps to live in London

Whether you’ve just arrived in London or you’re considering referring to yourself as a local, here are five useful apps to make city livin’ that little bit smoother, innit?

1. For getting around

The London Tube Map is both a virtual map and live update for each line, with places of interest built in to the application. This app will work without an internet connection, so you can use in the ‘black zone’ that is the Tube. If the bus is more your thing, TFL Bus Countdown provides live bus arrivals for a stop of your choice.

2. Inspiring a party

Time Out London. This iconic free street magazine also has a free app which provides a handy guide of ‘Most Popular in London’ suggestions which gives you some hints on must-sees around the city and hot spots to party any night of the week. For random inspiration, click the ‘Inspire’ wild card which randomly selects an attraction of interest.

3. Getting a free pint (!!)

Free Beer app (available from ilovefreebeer.co.uk) gives you free beer in London every day when you buy any drink or main meal. Only 12 Central London venues are available at the moment, but we reckon it’s worth a download anyway!

4. For when you ‘gotta go’

Toiletocity – because the one thing we’re always stuck for around here is a public loo. This toilet finder lists over 1000 washrooms in London – could prove handy after a few cold pints in the park!

5. Walking Tours

Slept in after the pub crawl and missed the free walking tour?  The City of London WalkAppBout guide takes you on a walk to some areas of the city you mightn’t have otherwise noticed, and tells you all about the history. It also works offline, when you’re out of range of free wifi zones.
